Fame at last for our oldest Resident
On March 31st our oldest Resident, Bet, turned an amazing 107. Bet spend the day being visited by friends and family and was given a rendition of Happy Birthday by the staff.
Bet was born in Chuck Hatch near Colemans Hatch in 1908 and she spent over 80 years living in Forest Row before moving to Littlefair just before her 100th birthday.
Bet loves Littlefair's resident cats and is often visted by the female cat, Bella, who she enjoys talking to. Despite her amazing age, Bet still hasn't lost her sense of humour, which is wicked at times! When asked what the secret to long life was, she answered "keep swearing and laughing" at which she burst out laughing! As well as her good sense of humour, staff commented on her kind hearted nature and her gentle, unassuming ways. On her special day, she didn't know what all the fuss was about!
The local newspaper was keen to publish an article on Bet and did a lovely piece on her with a large picture, fame at last! Other newspapers have since been in touch to ask if they could also use the story. Bet has caused quite a stir! You can read the East Grinstead Courier's article online.
All staff at Littlefair are very honoured to be able to look after such a lovely lady.
